With a surge of division and the complexities of holding nuance in relationship while being shown the underbelly of humanity all at once, we are tested with the ways we allow the world to move us. It brings to question the foundational parts of who we are. I am surprised often about the ways that circumstances show me who I am.
We have these default ways of being, these reactions that are tried and true that we've used to get through life. Some of them are in alignment with our values, like the way you always go out of your way to put your shopping cart back. Some of them do not align with who we believe ourselves to be, like the way you cut someone off in traffic when you're in a hurry. Most of them occur almost automatically with very little thought.
Giving them thought, shedding light and awareness, taking inventory of them, is a step toward personal power. Choosing who we are based on our stand for the world rather than being run by a pile of belief systems handed to us by the things that have happened to us give us a rooted nature, an embodiment.
This process seems to unearth more and more as we walk deeper into ourselves, showing blind spots and automatics that illuminate just how much of our experience of the world truly is internal. It does not negate the impact of others, just gives us more solid ground and perhaps a steering wheel for the way we move through different times.
My first Tea Time with Mel last month was a trial run, a no-curriculum catch up space that was beautiful for those who attended. Over the month, I've decided to add a bit of structure to them, and we will be discussing the sentiments that I've shared above, still open forum with just a bit of theme. Please join me Oct 3 at noon pacific for a free hour of community conversation.
The Alchemy of Us retreat in Tubac, AZ is in less than a month from now, the most potent offering I have this year- in person deep work on balancing the masculine and feminine within us all, partnering with 3 other incredible leaders. There is room for you there, October 15-19.
Whether you'll join me in either of those places or you'd prefer more 1:1 time, I'd invite you to take some time to jot down any thoughts about who you believe yourself to be and the ways that you act in accordance with that and the ways you are holding yourself back. Simply gaining awareness there can make room for great impact. I will be here believing in the highest expression of YOU.
